Shelter Island

After spending a blissful week in Avon, we packed everyone on a flight to New York. While there, we reunited the cousins (Drew, Ashley, Kerri, Meg and Meliss) and introduced the new guys (Jake, Jackson, Griffin, and Paul) to Shelter Island. Art took a great picture of our side of the family which destined to become an all-time favorite.

Just wondering ...

I've been pinning away on Pinterest, and then it occurred to me to ask: what do you remember your grandparents doing with you that makes you smile? Cuz that's what counts ...

And the replies were worth copying out:

Playing dress up at Grandma's house, with her clothes because she was small enough :) Buying ridiculously large clip on earrings...pretending the window in the kitchen was a drive through...Shopping in the Hampton's with Nana Ruth, ice cream at the beach...

Good ones, Liss. I completely agree. I remember trips to Little Creek - fishing off of the dock. Sneaking big bags of candy into the movie theater. Eating lunch off of tv trays and getting to sit on the couch. Easter shopping with Grandma...school shopping with Nana Ruth. Finding beach rocks and painting them. Tuck Shop and mud pie on Louie's (oh craving). Trips to Bobs. Playing rummikub and war.

With this ring I thee wed

We were married December 30, 1977 and though there is no wedding album to show for it, there remains a rather large stack of loose photographs that continue to await some attention. This is one of my favorites ...

Wedding Rehearsal

Liz and Don
The rehearsal was on a Thursday night, because we got married on a Friday. Weird, I know, but we were pretty sure getting married on New Year's Eve wasn't a good idea. The dinner afterward, hosted by Don's folks, was held at Larraine Murphy's in Manhasset. I have no idea what I had, but I do recall that LM's had the best popovers I've ever eaten in a restaurant.

Hopefully more pictures from that night will get added later ...
